Why use Noralytic with WooCommerce

Online shops often show a cookie banner mainly because of analytics. With Noralytic you can measure product views, campaigns and sales events without storing anything on the shopper's device.

You see which products, pages and campaigns bring buyers, and your numbers are not reduced by shoppers who decline cookies.

  • No cookies, no local storage and no stored IP addresses, so analytics alone does not need a consent banner.
  • A tracking script under 1 KB that will not slow down your pages.
  • Real-time stats, top pages, sources, countries, devices, campaigns and events in one simple dashboard.
  • Single-page navigation is tracked automatically, because the script follows the browser history.

What you need

  • A free Noralytic account with your website added under its exact domain.
  • A WooCommerce store on WordPress and admin access to add a code snippet.

How to add Noralytic to WooCommerce

WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so the base setup is the same as for any WordPress site.

Your Noralytic tracking code
<script data-host="https://noralytic.com" src="https://noralytic.com/js/script.js" id="ZwSg9rf6GA" async defer></script>
  1. Add the tracking code
    Paste the snippet into the header with a snippet plugin such as WPCode, or add it with wp_head in your child theme (see the WordPress guide).
  2. Add the purchase event
    Add the order-received code below so each completed order is counted with its total.
  3. Add the add-to-cart event
    Add the small script below to count products added to the cart.
functions.php: purchase event on the thank-you page
add_action('woocommerce_thankyou', function ($order_id) {
    $order = wc_get_order($order_id);
    if (!$order) {
        return;
    }
    printf(
        '<script>window.addEventListener("load", function () { window.pa && pa.track({ name: "purchase", value: %s, unit: "%s" }); });</script>',
        esc_js($order->get_total()),
        esc_js($order->get_currency())
    );
});

Check that tracking works

  1. Open your website
    Use a private browser window so extensions and your login do not interfere.
  2. Open the Noralytic real-time view
    In your Noralytic dashboard, open your website and go to Realtime.
  3. Look for your visit
    Your page view should appear within a few seconds. Click through a few pages to see each one counted.

Track custom events on WooCommerce

WooCommerce triggers a browser event when a product is added to the cart. Use it to count add-to-cart actions.

Example
jQuery(document.body).on('added_to_cart', function () {
    pa.track({ name: 'add_to_cart' });
});

Events appear in your Events report. A value and a unit are optional, for example pa.track({ name: 'purchase', value: 49.9, unit: 'EUR' }).

Exclude your own visits and bots

To keep your numbers clean, open your website settings in Noralytic and add your own IP address under excluded IP addresses. Make sure bot filtering is enabled so known crawlers are ignored.

Troubleshooting

  • Purchase events fire once per page load: a customer who reloads the thank-you page can trigger the event again.
  • Payment gateways that redirect: make sure customers return to your thank-you page, otherwise the purchase event cannot run.
  • No data after a few minutes? Confirm that the domain in Noralytic matches your website exactly, and that the script appears in the page source.
  • Ad blockers: some blockers hide analytics scripts. Test in a private window without extensions.
  • Content Security Policy: if you use one, allow noralytic.com as a script and connection source.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a plugin or app to use Noralytic with WooCommerce?

No. Noralytic works with a single line of code, so you do not need a dedicated app or plugin.

Does Noralytic need a cookie banner on WooCommerce?

Noralytic itself does not use cookies, so analytics alone does not require a consent banner. Other tools on your site, such as advertising or social widgets, may still need one.

Can Noralytic track WooCommerce revenue?

Yes, with the purchase event shown above, which sends the order total and currency as the event value and unit.

Does Noralytic replace WooCommerce analytics?

It complements it. WooCommerce reports show orders, while Noralytic shows traffic sources, campaigns and visitor behaviour without cookies.

Is Noralytic free to use with WooCommerce?

Yes. Noralytic has a free plan with 10,000 pageviews per month for one website, and paid plans start at €8.99 per month.
