Goals, conversion rate and revenue

A goal is an event you care about, such as a sign-up or a purchase. Noralytic counts it, shows the conversion rate next to your visitors and adds up the values you send along.

  • Goals: pick an event and give it a display name, then see completions and the conversion rate
  • Page goals: count how often a page such as /thank-you is opened, without any code
  • Revenue: values sent with an event, for example purchase with 49.90 EUR, are added up
  • Per currency: EUR and USD are never mixed into one number
  • In the dashboard: goals and their revenue are listed next to every website

What you can do with it

Measure sign-ups and purchases

See how many visitors complete the step that matters to you.

Know what a source is worth

Filter by a referrer or a campaign and look at goals and revenue of those visits.

Report to clients

Show completions and revenue instead of only visitor numbers.

How it works

Send a purchase with its value
pa.track({ name: 'purchase', value: 49.90, unit: 'EUR' });

Send events with pa.track() as described on the events page. Then open the website settings, add a goal for the event name and choose how it should be displayed.

For a goal without code, choose "Page visit" as the goal type and enter the path, for example /thank-you. A * works as a wildcard, so /shop/* counts every page below /shop/. Query parameters are ignored.

Revenue is calculated from the value and the unit of your events. Events without a value still count as completions.

Frequently asked questions

How is the conversion rate calculated?

Completions of the goal divided by visitors in the selected period.

What if I sell in several currencies?

Each currency is added up separately and shown on its own.

Can I add goals for events I sent earlier?

Yes. A goal reads the events that already exist under that name.

Can I set a goal without writing code?

Yes. Choose "Page visit" as the goal type and enter the path of the page, such as /thank-you. Every visit of that page counts as a completion. Page goals have no revenue, because there is no value to add up.

Do goals need cookies?
